| ICTY 2001 – 2003: Friso had the unique opportunity to work in the heavily guarded Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Friso recorded a view from behind the scenes. This period was during a.o. the Milosevic trial. The project became a successful solo exhibition in the Fotomuseum Den Haag in 2005 / 2006. It was supported by Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst. The portraits were nominated for the ECB Photo Award and were published in the catalogue 'Europe' and exhibited in Cologne and Frankfurt in 2008. There was also a publication in NYT Magazine. From 2013 till 2016 he was given the opportunity to continue the series. Now characters dealing during the Mladic / Karadzic trials were portrayed. Because all key figures been brought in trial the Tribunal will close its doors at the end of 2017. This project is a historical document so Friso is looking for the possibilities to bring this project together in a book. |
